With the premiere of Daredevil’s second season, there was no doubt in anybody’s mind that we needed to see more of Frank Castle, A.K.A. The Punisher. It was not difficult for Netflix to decide on the matter, the network stated that they would like to do a solo The Punisher TV series with Jon Bernthal as Punisher.
With Marvel just releasing Luke Cage on Netflix and Iron Fist set to premiere at the beginning of the next year, the tension is building up for that team up TV series of Marvel’s street level superheroes, The Defenders. The short teaser for The Defenders hints on The Punisher being there too, as I am sure you all probably know by now. Jessica Jones and Daredevil’s second seasons are on the way but they will have to wait until after The Defenders’ first season to air. About The Punisher, there is no certain release date announced but it may happen in 2017 although some say, it will have to wait until 2018.
That being said, everything about The Punisher TV series happened so fast. One day it was a rumor the next it was confirmed by Netflix. There is more; the production team just started filming. It will be one hell of a series with Jon Bernthal really doing an excellent job as Punisher. Here are some set photos that you should check showing Bernthal as a bearded Frank Castle.
