Pacific Rim 2 will be at the theatres in 2018 and it is rumored to be different from the first movie. The first movie was a success which guaranteed that the second would happen. Some changes were made in the production team. Original director Guillermo del Toro will not be directing the next movie, Steven S. DeKnight (Daredevil, Smallville) will be the director and he is going to bring a different team of Kaiju hunters.
Here are the names confirmed for Pacific Rim 2: Maelstrom until now. Be warned though, there are spoilers if you have not watched the first movie. John Boyega will be playing the son of Stacker Pentecost who was portayed by Idris Elba in the first Pacific Rim movie. Scott Eastwood is in, however, there is no information about his role although there is a good chancde that he will be a Jaegar pilot. Jing Tian and Cailee Spaeny are also some of the actors whose roles are not clear yet. Levi Meaden is cast as a cadet who will be fighting kaiju.
