Netflix is doing so well with its original TV series like Stranger Things and House of Cards and that made its hand stronger than ever. The network is trying to expand its library of films and TV series. The network acquired the rights for Bright by David Ayer, War Machine by Brad Pitt and Mute by Duncan Jones.
In addition to that, the network just made a deal that would make their movies eligible to contend for Oscar awards. This helped the film division of Netflix even stronger than before. Well, they just added another prohject to their porftolio, one that stars Jake Gyllenhaal.
Deadline reports that Netflix almost closed the deal on the rights for The Helicopter Heist , a drama by Gyllenhaal based on real life events. The story focuses on a 2009 helicopter robbery in Västberga and it is based on a manuscript written by Swedish writer Jonas Bonnier. Robbers landed a Bell 206 Jet Ranger on the roof of a building and stole more than $5 million from a G4S cash service. The seven perpetrators were caught by the police later.
