Finding the right director is the most important part of a movie. Without that, no matter how good your script is, things may not “click”. One of those movies suffering from that was Godzilla 2 since it had a major setback after Gareth Edwards decided to not return for the 2nd movie. This seems to be solved now, though. The latest reports indicate that Michael Dougherty will be directing the sequel.

It might be weird to think of Michael Dougherty as the director of the movie since we all knew him more with his screenwriting role until now. That does not mean that he never directed anything. Krampus and Trick ‘r Treat are what come to mind as the movies he has previously directed. These were horror movies infused with comedy elements. We might see the same comedy elements in Godzilla 2, who knows?
