As one of the best crime movies of its time, the Departed was a true masterpiece by Martin Scorsese, which eventually win the Academy Award, and Amazon is bringing it back as a TV show. Amazon will be collaborating with the producers of the 2006 movie to turn it into a TV series.
As a difference between the TV show and the movie, the show will focus on street gans in Chicago rather than the Irish mob in Boston. A cop will go undercover to infiltrate a Latin gang while the gang will also place a mole in Chicago PD. Jason Richman (Detroit 1-8-7’s creator) will write the screenplay.
For the uninformed, the Departed is about an undercover cop (Leonardo Di Caprio) infiltrating the mob while Matt Damon stars as Collin Sullivan, a sergeant in the police force who is also one of the heads of the mob. Other than these two great actors, the movie features Alec Baldwin, Vera Farmiga, Martin Sheen, Jack Nicholson and Mark Wahlberg.
The Departed will be the second movie to be adapted as a TV series by Amazon after Jack Ryan a TV show about a spy startting John Krasinski.
