We all know how Marvel’s TV productions are connected to their movie productions or at least somewhat in harmony with them. This, however, is something that DC does not want to apply.
In accordance with their agreement with Warner Bros, DC might put some limitations to its characters showing up on TV. It is difficult for characters to appear both on TV and DCEU’s movies, hence the reason why Task Force X was removed from Arrow in the first place when Suicide Squad movie was announced. Michael Rowe‘s Deadshot has already become a fan-favorite on Arrow but DC and Warner Bros wanted Will Smith to be the face of Deadshot. Amanda Waller’s character followed Deathshot and was killed in season 4 of Arrow. After these two, the third character we may say goodbye might be Deathstroke as it seems.
Manu Bennett’s Deathstroke appeared in first three seasons of Arrow and was a big part of the story for the first two. Fans were hoping to see him again in some way at the very least.
However, according to the statement made about Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Deathstroke will appear in the movie and then become the main villain in Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie. This makes Deathstroke’s return to Arrow less possible to say the least. Stephen Amell has a different take on the whole debacle though:
“That’s actually something that people bring up on a regular basis…that DC has told us you can’t have or you must get rid of [this character]. That’s not how that works. Diane Nelson and Geoff Johns – the people at Warner Bros. on the feature side, the people at Warner Bros. on the television side – are all in the business of making the best products for fans. Just because there may or may not be a Deathstroke in the DC Extended Universe doesn’t mean Manu Bennett can’t exist on our show.”
