The partnership between Netflix and Marvel surely turned out to be great with 3 out of 4 TV shows they planned to produce together, Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, respectively. Iron Fist will be premiering in March 2017. However, the original plan between the two companies, which would bring these four heroes together to form up The Defenders team for the titular TV series, had to be changed after Jon Bernthal amazed everyone with his performance as the Puınisher in Daredevil’s season 2.
Punisher, who will probably be joining The Defenders, got its own series and the filming just started although no details have been revealed, until now that is.
Ebon Moss-Bachrach (Girls), Ben Barnes (Westworld) and Amber Rose Revah (Son of God) will be joining Jon Bernthal in The Punisher.
“I’m really excited about the cast we’re assembling alongside Bernthal as Frank Castle. I look forward to watching Ben, Ebon and Amber embody these characters and breathe vivid life into the story we are crafting for this season of ‘Marvel’s The Punisher.’”
Moss-Bachrach will play Micro (or Microchip), an ally of Punisher who is also an NSA analyst. He’s a brilliant hacker and gunsmith who supplies the Punisher with most of his advanced weapons.
Ben Barnes will be playing the character of Billy Russo. Billy Russo is Frank’s best friend from the Special Forces days. He runs a private miltary corporation named Anvil. Barnes will be playing an important role in the first season when we go back to the background story of Punisher which is full of betrayals in the army days which kind of put him on his war path.
Revah will play Dinah Madani, a brilliant Homeland Security agent who has issues with Punisher’s methods and the damage he causes. She will get to know him better probably and who knows, maybe become an ally of him in the future.
